She is everywhere light cannot reach.

Her domain is the darkness and she guards it with pride.

She awakes at twilight and lingers till dawn.

As she slumbers the shadows take her place, for they are her children.

Many fear her for they know not what she holds.

She blesses us with the gift of sleep, yet is cursed with our fears.

Her friends are nocturnal, and her guardian the moon.

With her cooling blanket she shades us from the vibrant rays of the sun.

She is Nyx, goddess and protector of the night.
